All Are Welcome

A Congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America - Where All Are Welcome!
Yehiel Curry to serve as fifth presiding bishop of the ELCA. It’s a new era of leadership in the Lutheran community — and a historic one (video).Meet the Bishop-elect
Our HistoryRedeemer Lutheran Church began as a mission congregation in downtown Greenville on May 29, 1966 and quickly grew in size from 30 to 56 members who signed the Charter of the new congregation on September 25, 1966. On December 1st of that same year the congregation purchased 1.3 acres of land where the church is located. By May, 1967 Redeemer’s membership had grown to more than 100 adults and children who participated in a February 24th ground-breaking ceremony followed by a dedication celebration of its new building on August 4, 1968. As a new congregation, Redeemer Lutheran was served by several part-time pastors until Rev. Stanley Meyer was called as its first full-time pastor in December, 1969. Additional full-time pastors who faithfully served Redeemer Lutheran Church include Leroy Wing, Mark Weber, Richard Brunk, Stephen Kanouse, William McCord, Marc Hander and Debra Leone who retired in 2021. Redeemer Lutheran Church has navigated many challenges in past years including the loss of its fellowship hall from a tornado in 2019 and the impact of COVID-19 on its attendance and programs during which the faith of its members never wavered but remained strong, trusting and believing in the words of Romans 8:28: “...nothing in or of this world is capable of separating us from the love of Christ Jesus our Lord - including affliction, distress, things present or things to come.”
